I think this is how the melee weapon should be designed for the MWO Atlas:

I could see someone making a real Rock `em Sock `em Atlas! Complete with a pilot ejecting when its head pops up.

We have a forum full of modelers............we have to do this!

maybe since the Stormcrow has those huge-long hands attached, I ought to throw him into the ring as well.

....question is, who would get in the ring after the atlas? I know nova has hands.

Unless... You're another atlas with a pipe! Possible? Maybe? No?

if the atlas could yield that melee weapon in MWO, then the atlas would be able to effectively stand up to the Direwolf, assuming it got in range.

That would be awesome! Now if only we could talk them into bringing in interactive objects (trees, light posts). And it would be canonicaly accurate, as sgtmajor posted above with the Warhawk pic above.

Many an Atlas has caved in the cockpit of an enemy with debris picked up in urban combat. I'll never forget the poor Wasp I had that failed a PSR when trying to turn down a side-street at full speed to avoid an AS7-K. Fell and slid into (presumably) some sort of deli or coffee shop on the street corner. Atlas trundled over and put an I-beam right through the CT. Pilot, for some reason, ejected and rocketed into the building across the intersection - dead on impact.

I'm still a fan of my AS7-D using a Locust as a club to beat a Phoenix Hawk to death with....

No, no, it was still very much not dead. I got lucky and garbed it during a city fight game... It lived a couple of rounds and tried to pelt me with m.gun rounds, till I got into position to crack the Phoenix Hawk in the CT killing both Mechs with one blow.

Would help make piloting IS mechs more desirable, since most clan mechs lack hands, and wouldn't have the option of using the dreaded pipe of doom.
